How do you get published?

I suggest sacrificing small animals (ground squirrels in particular) to the gods of literary serendipity. It helps if you have something written (don’t burn it just yet). The fine folks at Latah Books have been stalwart supporters and collaborators of my process and are already nursing me through the next project.

Do you still live off-grid?

No. I feel rather like a traitor. Currently, this author is living in a new house she built with her husband on a new hilltop, with amenities such as gas and power. Not a fan of the utility bills—definitely love heated floors. While we are surrounded still by forests and mountains, the critters that sneak into the garden, and those who munch down saplings, I am thrilled there are no ground squirrels, which have long been the source of my gardening woes.
